The beach is dog-friendly. A dog came up to Joseph and dropped his ball. Joseph would throw it to him, and the dog would get it (no matter how far -- or how close), and bring it back to Joseph. This went on for several tosses. Finally the dog caught the ball in his mouth, and then went on to play with somebody else.
Gary and Raven built a fancy sand castle.
Gary buried Raven in the sand. Raven loved it, so he buried Dean, too!

In the pool and on the boat Jan 18 - 25
January 18 - 25, 2007 Grandchildren in South Florida
Raven, Joseph, and Dean enjoyed going to the beach almost every day.
Raven – January 19
On the first trip to the beach (since Labor Day weekend), Raven was holding Grandma’s hand climbing the steps to the top of the sand dune. At the top – her first sight of the ocean – she said, “Hello, Ocean. Did you miss me?” We heard the roar of the waves, and she said, “It’s talking to me.”
Joseph –
Joseph loved the beach. He had brought a favorite book about airplanes with him on the plane trip here. There was a picture of a seaplane on one page, and Joseph would always say, “Seapane” when we came to that page. After the trips to the beach, he would say “Beach” when he looked at that page. Nobody had ever said to him that the seaplane was landing on the beach. When he returned to Boulder and Beth took him to daycare, he said “Beach” when he walked in the room.
Dean –
Everybody moved things out of the way as soon as Dean approached. Blanche was always telling Granddaddy to pick up his glass, but Gil solved the problem. He would say, “Dean” to get Dean’s attention and then just shake his head. Dean would not touch the glass on the table. Dean started shaking his head every time he looked at Granddaddy.

More Knitting
Here are some more pictures of Grandma's knitting projects.
The first picture is Beth's cable hat and Seans scarf, on the needles. The yarn for Beth's hat is called blue shadow stripe.
This is Sean's finished scarf.
This is Joseph's sweater and hat. It is actually a sweater jacket.
This is Raven's purple pullover sweater and hat.
There is one more picture. This is the yarn that I bought for Beth's cable hat, but it was too 'bumpy' for the cables. I knitted a plain hat out of the yarn. I liked the yarn better in the store than I did on the needles!

Sean's Hats
I am mailing Sean's hats today! I did the one on the left (frosty green, all acrylic, machine wash and dry) first, and thought it might be too big. The one on the right is an acrylic/wool blend (forest green tweed, machine wash -- delicate -- dry flat. It is smaller and softer. The pattern looks really complicated, but is actually easy and fun to do. Does anybody else want one?
